White-rumped Hawk, Parabuteo leucorrhous, is a bird of prey in the hawk family that breeds in South America from Venezuela to north-west Bolivia and south-east Brazil. It is a forest bird, using dense subtropical and tropical woodland as well as the Chaco, and it also occurs in mountain areas. The species is marked by an almost wholly black adult plumage with a white rump and undertail coverts, while young birds are brown above with rufous mottling and heavily mottled underparts. It is generally sedentary, though some movement suggests a nomadic tendency.
