White-rumped Treeswift

Hemiprocne mystacea

The White-rumped Treeswift (Hemiprocne mystacea) is a species of treeswift found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive white rump and long, slender wings. These birds are adapted for an arboreal lifestyle, spending much of their time perched in trees and hunting for insects on the wing. They have a unique aerial feeding behavior, catching insects in flight using their wide gape and agile flight. White-rumped Treeswifts are monogamous and form long-term pair bonds. They are often seen in small groups or pairs, gliding gracefully through the forest canopy. The species is not currently considered at risk, but habitat loss and deforestation pose potential threats to its populations.
