White's Thrush

Zoothera aurea (Holandre, 1825)

White's Thrush, Zoothera aurea, is a thrush in the family Turdidae that breeds in the eastern Palearctic and spends the non-breeding season in Taiwan and south-east Asia. It was described by Holandre in 1825. Its breeding grounds are wet coniferous taiga, with a range extending from Siberia through Manchuria, Korea and Japan. In flight, it can be recognised by the black band across the white underwings, a feature it shares with Siberian Thrush. It was once treated as a subspecies of Scaly Thrush.
