White-shouldered Fairywren, Malurus alboscapulatus, is a passerine bird in the Australasian wren family, Maluridae, found in New Guinea. It was described by Meyer in 1874 and is one of the Malurus fairywrens. The species is known for its white shoulder patches, and the adult male is otherwise glossy black. Unlike some Australian fairywrens, it does not have an eclipse male plumage. Its tail is shorter than that of other fairywrens. It lives in lowland cleared country, including grassland, village gardens and cane-grass.
