Veles binotatus
The White-tailed Hawk (Veles binotatus) is a large raptor found in open habitats of Central and South America. This species is known for its striking appearance, with a predominantly white body, contrasting with black flight feathers and a distinctive white tail. White-tailed Hawks are often seen soaring high in the sky, searching for prey such as small mammals, reptiles, and birds. They build their nests in tall trees or on man-made structures, and are known for their impressive aerial displays during courtship. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and persecution in some areas pose localized threats to this species.
