Sitta himalayensis
The White-tailed Nuthatch (Sitta himalayensis) is a small songbird found in the Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive white patch on its tail, which contrasts with its blue-gray upperparts and white underparts. This nuthatch is known for its agile movements as it forages for insects and seeds in coniferous and mixed forests. It often climbs down tree trunks headfirst, using its strong feet and sharp bill to probe into crevices. The species is known for its vocalizations, including a variety of calls and songs. While it is not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and degradation may pose localized threats to its populations.
