White-tailed Sabrewing

The White-tailed Sabrewing is a medium-sized hummingbird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is characterized by its striking iridescent green plumage, a white throat, and a distinctive white band across the base of the tail. This species is known for its impressive aerial displays during courtship, with the males performing elaborate flight patterns to attract females. White-tailed Sabrewings primarily feed on nectar from a variety of flowering plants and are important pollinators within their habitat. They also consume small insects and spiders as a source of protein. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the White-tailed Sabrewing is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
