White-tailed Tyrannulet, Mecocerculus poecilocercus, is a bird of the Andes in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It belongs to the tyrant flycatcher family and is a resident throughout its range. Its breeding range runs from Colombia to Peru. It is a monotypic species and is linked with the buff-banded tyrannulet in a superspecies. It lives in humid montane evergreen forest in the subtropical zone, especially mossy cloudforest, and is found on both slopes of the Andes. In Peru it is recorded only in Piura on the west side and as far south as Cuzco on the east side.
