The White-thighed Hornbill is a large bird native to the forests of central Africa. It is recognized by its striking black and white plumage, large size, and distinctive casque on top of its bill. These birds are known for their loud, raucous calls that echo through the forest canopy. They are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and occasionally small animals. White-thighed Hornbills play an important role in seed dispersal within their forest habitats. They are typically found in dense, humid forests and are known to form monogamous breeding pairs. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, the conservation status of the White-thighed Hornbill is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
