Trochilidae — Hummingbirds

White-throated Daggerbill, Schistes albogularis, is a hummingbird of the family Trochilidae that breeds in western Colombia and western Ecuador. It was described by Gould in 1852. Found in the western Andes and on the western slope of Colombia’s Central Andes south into western Ecuador, it lives in dense cloudforest, both inside the forest and along its edges, often close to streams. Its bill is very narrow and sharply pointed, which gives the bird its name. The species is monotypic.
