White-throated Mountain-Flycatcher

Muscicapa epulata

The White-throated Mountain-Flycatcher is a small passerine bird found in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayas. It is characterized by its olive-brown upperparts, white throat, and yellowish underparts. This species is known for its distinctive call, a sharp 'chee-wee' often heard in the forested slopes. The White-throated Mountain-Flycatcher primarily feeds on insects and is often observed perching on branches or making short flights to catch its prey. It nests in tree hollows and crevices, and its breeding season coincides with the summer months. Although not much is known about its population trends, it is generally considered to be of least concern in terms of conservation status.
