Aeronautes montivagus
The White-throated Swift is a small, highly aerial bird found in western North America. With a streamlined body and long, narrow wings, it is well adapted for fast, agile flight. These swifts are often seen darting through the air in search of flying insects, their primary source of food. Their distinctive white throat and deeply forked tail make them easily recognizable in flight. They nest in colonies on cliffs and rock crevices, using their saliva to construct their nests. These birds are highly social and often form large flocks during migration. White-throated Swifts are important members of their ecosystems, contributing to insect control and serving as indicators of environmental health.
