White-throated Toucanet

Stigmatura budytoides

The White-throated Toucanet is a small to medium-sized toucan found in the mountainous regions of South America. It is easily recognized by its vibrant green plumage, white throat, and distinctive red and yellow bill. These social birds are often seen in pairs or small flocks, foraging for fruits, insects, and small reptiles in the canopy of cloud forests. They are known for their croaking calls and agile flight through the dense vegetation. The White-throated Toucanet plays a vital role in seed dispersal and is an important indicator species for the health of montane ecosystems.
