White-throated Treecreeper

Cormobates leucophaea (Latham, 1801)

White-throated Treecreeper, Cormobates leucophaea, breeds in eastern Australia and belongs to the Climacteridae, the Australasian treecreepers. It is an Australian treecreeper of the forests there, and it is not related to the treecreepers of the northern hemisphere. In the Gathang language of the Worimi people it is known as Dilmun, and that name is the totem of Worimi women. It is also set apart from Climacteris treecreepers by not practising cooperative breeding, and where the two meet it uses looser bark and usually different trees.
