White-vented Euphonia, Euphonia minuta, is a finch and euphonia of Middle and South America, breeding from south-eastern Mexico to Ecuador, the Guianas and central Bolivia. It was first described by Cabanis in 1849. This very small bird has a short, thick bill and shows marked differences between the sexes. It lives in humid to wet lowland forest in tropical and lower subtropical regions, including rainforest edges in Central America and várzea and terra firme forest in the Amazon Basin. It is mainly resident, though some elevational movement has been recorded in Costa Rica and Colombia.
