White-winged Becard

The White-winged Becard (Pterophanes cyanopterus) is a medium-sized songbird found in Central and South America. This species is known for its distinctive white wing patches and black mask around the eyes. The male has a gray body with a black cap, while the female is brownish-gray with a lighter underbelly. White-winged Becards are often found in open woodlands, forest edges, and secondary growth areas. They are known for their unique vocalizations and are often observed foraging for insects and small fruits in the upper canopy. This species is not currently considered threatened, but habitat loss and fragmentation may pose future conservation challenges.
