White-winged Potoo, Nyctibius leucopterus, is a bird of Amazonia in South America, where it occurs in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela. It belongs to the potoo family, Nyctibiidae. The Amazonian form is known from scattered localities across the Amazon basin and lives in the canopy of mature terra firme rainforest, including white-sand forest. The species has two forms that are very similar apart from size, and the white wing patch on the secondary coverts gives it its name. It is nocturnal and takes insects from an exposed perch.
