White-winged Seedeater

Crithagra leucopygia

The White-winged Seedeater is a small passerine bird native to southern Africa. It is characterized by its distinctive white wing bars and yellow underparts. This species is commonly found in open grasslands, agricultural areas, and savannas. The White-winged Seedeater feeds primarily on seeds and small insects, foraging on the ground or in low vegetation. It is known for its melodious song, often heard during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and agricultural intensification pose potential risks to its populations.
