Whitehead's Trogon, Harpactes whiteheadi, lives in montane Borneo in the Oriental Region, where it is an uncommon resident of primary mountain forest. It was described by Sharpe in 1888. This trogon is one of Borneo’s largest, and the sexes differ in plumage. The male has crimson on the head, nape and underparts, a black throat, a grey chest and cinnamon upperparts. The female follows the same pattern, but the areas that are scarlet in the male are cinnamon-brown instead. There are no subspecies.
