Cygnus cygnus

The Whooper Swan, scientifically known as Cygnus cygnus, is a large, graceful waterfowl native to the Northern Hemisphere. It is known for its distinctive whooping call and elegant, elongated neck. These swans are primarily migratory, breeding in the Arctic regions and wintering in more temperate areas. They are often found in wetlands, lakes, and coastal areas, where they feed on aquatic plants and occasionally small invertebrates. The Whooper Swan is recognized for its striking white plumage, contrasting with its bright yellow beak and black legs. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their breeding and wintering grounds, and they are currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
