Willard's Sooty Boubou

Willard's Sooty Boubou, Laniarius willardi, is a bushshrike of the Albertine Rift montane forests in Uganda and Burundi. It was described in 2010 by Voelker & Gnoske. Its most notable feature is its grey to blue-grey eye colour, which sets it apart from the Mountain sooty boubou. The bird was identified from five specimens, including examples collected in southern Uganda and in Burundi. It is also genetically distinct from the co-located Albertine sooty boubou. Its name honours David Willard, and its common name refers to its uniform black plumage.
