Tringa semipalmata

The Willet (Tringa semipalmata) is a large shorebird found in North and South America. It has a distinctive long, straight bill and a bold black-and-white wing pattern. Willets inhabit a variety of coastal habitats, including beaches, mudflats, and salt marshes. They are often seen foraging for small invertebrates in the shallow water or probing the sand with their bills. During the breeding season, Willets can be found in grassy marshes and coastal wetlands. They are known for their piercing calls and aerial displays during courtship. Willets are migratory birds, with populations in North America wintering along the coasts of the southern United States, Central America, and northern South America.
