Willow Warbler

Phylloscopus trochilus

The Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus) is a small, migratory bird known for its melodious, descending song. It has olive-green upperparts, pale underparts, and a distinct pale stripe above the eye. This species breeds in open woodlands, scrub, and gardens across Europe and western Asia, and winters in sub-Saharan Africa. Willow Warblers forage for insects and spiders in the foliage and are often seen flitting through the branches. Their populations are generally stable, but they may face threats from habitat loss and climate change.
