Wilson's Bird-of-paradise, Diphyllodes respublica, lives in the hill and lowland rainforests of Waigeo and Batanta in the Raja Ampat Islands, north-west of New Guinea. It is a passerine in the birds-of-paradise family. The male is notable for its red and black plumage, yellow neck mantle, light green mouth, rich blue feet, two curved violet tail feathers, and bare blue head marked with a black double cross. The female is brownish with a bare blue crown. Males clear a display court in the forest and perform an elaborate mating dance there.
