Wilson's Storm Petrel

Oceanites oceanicus (Kuhl, 1820)

Wilson's Storm Petrel, Oceanites oceanicus, breeds in the Southern Ocean from southern Chilean fjords and Cape Horn through Antarctica, the Falklands, South Georgia, Crozet, Heard, Kerguelen and Macquarie Island. Outside the breeding season it ranges across the world’s oceans, but not the tropical or North Pacific waters. It belongs to the austral storm petrel family Oceanitidae and was described by Kuhl in 1820. This bird is also called Wilson's petrel.
