Wine-throated Hummingbird, Selasphorus ellioti, is a hummingbird of Middle America, breeding from southern Mexico to Honduras. It is placed in the family Trochilidae and is found in montane country, including pine-oak and evergreen forest, as well as nearby shrubland. It uses interiors, edges and clearings, and occurs from 1,500 to 3,500 m. The species has a short, straight, blackish bill and a small white mark behind the eye. Two subspecies are recognised, with the northern form in Chiapas and much of Guatemala, and the other in western Honduras and northern El Salvador.
