Wing-snapping Cisticola, Cisticola ayresii, is a bird of central and southern Africa in the family Cisticolidae. It occurs across those parts of the continent and is associated with dry lowland grassland as well as grassland at higher elevations in tropical and subtropical areas. The scientific name commemorates the South African ornithologist Thomas Ayres. It was described by Hartlaub in 1863.
