Lullula arborea
The Wood Lark (Lullula arborea) is a small passerine bird found in open woodlands, heathlands, and grassy areas across Europe and western Asia. It is known for its melodious song, often delivered in flight. The Wood Lark has a distinctive appearance with a streaked brown back, pale underparts, and a prominent pale supercilium. It forages on the ground for seeds and insects, using its strong bill to extract food from the soil. During the breeding season, the male performs aerial displays to attract a mate. Despite being widespread, the Wood Lark faces threats from habitat loss and changes in land use.
