Wreathed Hornbill

Rhyticeros undulatus

The Wreathed Hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus) is a large, colorful bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is known for its striking plumage and distinctive casque on top of its bill. These hornbills play a vital role in forest ecosystems as seed dispersers, feeding on a variety of fruits and insects. They are often found in pairs or small groups and are known for their loud, raucous calls. The Wreathed Hornbill is currently listed as Near Threatened due to habitat loss and hunting for its casque and feathers.
