Writhed Hornbill, Rhabdotorrhinus leucocephalus, is a hornbill of the Mindanao group in the Philippines, where it breeds in the Oriental Region. It lives in tropical moist lowland forest, reaching 1,000 metres but occurring more often below 500 metres. It is found on Mindanao, Dinagat and Camiguin Sur. Both sexes show orange-red skin on the throat and around the eye, which separates it from Walden’s hornbill. It nests in tree cavities in large dipterocarp trees, and the female seals herself inside while the male brings food.
