Yellow-bellied Tanager

Ixothraupis xanthogastra (Sclater, PL, 1851)

Yellow-bellied Tanager, Ixothraupis xanthogastra, is a bird of western and northern Amazonia in South America, where it occurs in lowland tropical forest, along woodland margins and in secondary growth. It was first described by Sclater in 1851. The species is mainly green and marked with black spotting over most of the body, while the belly is clear yellow and the flanks are plain. It is found from Venezuela through Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, and also in Brazil, Bolivia and Guyana.
