Yellow-billed babbler

Turdoides nipalensis

The Yellow-billed babbler (Turdoides nipalensis) is a sociable bird found in the Indian subcontinent. With a length of about 18 cm, this medium-sized babbler has a distinctive yellow bill and a brownish-grey plumage. It is known for its gregarious nature, often forming noisy flocks in open woodland, scrub, and cultivated areas. These birds are highly vocal, producing a variety of calls and songs to communicate within their group. The Yellow-billed babbler is an omnivorous species, feeding on insects, fruits, and nectar. Although not currently assessed, its population appears stable and it is not considered threatened.
