Yellow-billed Shrike, Lanius corvinus, is a resident bird of tropical Africa, ranging from Senegal east to Uganda and reaching western Kenya in places. It lives in wooded country and other habitats with trees. A striking feature is its long tail, paired with short wings and a yellow bill. Adults show brown upperparts, streaked buff below, a dark face mask and a rufous wing patch. The sexes are alike overall, though the flank patches differ. It is often seen in groups and is known for harsh calls.
