Yellow-billed Spoonbill

The Yellow-billed Spoonbill (Platalea flavipes) is a striking wading bird with a distinctive spoon-shaped bill. These birds are predominantly white with a yellow bill and legs. They are medium-sized and have a wingspan of around 90-105 cm. Yellow-billed Spoonbills are often found in shallow freshwater and saltwater wetlands, including marshes, lagoons, and estuaries. They use their unique bill to sweep through the water, feeding on small fish, crustaceans, and insects. These birds are known for their graceful and deliberate movements as they forage in the shallows. The conservation status of the Yellow-billed Spoonbill is of Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List.
