Yellow-breasted Antpitta

Grallaricula flavirostris

The Yellow-breasted Antpitta is a small, elusive bird found in the cloud forests of the Andes mountains in South America. It is characterized by its olive-brown upperparts, bright yellow breast, and distinctive black and white facial markings. This species forages on the forest floor, hopping and skulking through the undergrowth in search of insects and small invertebrates. Its haunting, flute-like song can often be heard echoing through the dense vegetation. The Yellow-breasted Antpitta is highly adapted to its specialized habitat and plays a vital role in the ecosystem as a seed disperser and predator of invertebrates.
