Yellow Chat, Epthianura crocea, is a passerine honeyeater that breeds in north-central Australia. It is found in patchy populations across northern Australia, including the Kimberley, the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Lake Eyre Basin, with further isolated groups in eastern Queensland and north-west Western Australia. Its most notable feature is its adaptation to hot, dry country with little surface water. The bird has a brush tongue, and studies have shown reduced metabolic rate and lower evaporative water loss. It is also linked to marshy plains with saltbush, grasses or cumbungi reeds.
