Yellow-chinned Spinetail

Certhiaxis mustelinus

The Yellow-chinned Spinetail is a small, insectivorous bird found in South America. It has a distinctive yellow chin and throat, with a brownish upper body and white underparts. This species is known for its rapid and erratic flight pattern as it forages for insects in dense vegetation. It is often found in dry scrublands, savannas, and forest edges. The Yellow-chinned Spinetail builds dome-shaped nests made of grass and leaves, typically placed in thorny shrubs. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
