Yellow-crowned Gonolek, Laniarius barbarus, is a passerine of the bushshrike family found in western Africa, where it breeds in Senegal and nearby areas. It lives in dense undergrowth in forests and other wooded places, and is often hard to spot because it keeps to cover. The bird has a long tail and short wings, with black upperparts, a golden crown and scarlet underparts, while the undertail is buff-yellow. The legs are dark. Adults of both sexes look alike, and young birds are paler and less strongly marked.
