The Yellow-crowned Woodpecker (Chrysocolaptes xanthocephalus) is a striking bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. This medium-sized woodpecker is characterized by its vibrant yellow crown, black and white barred back, and red nape. It has a strong, chisel-like bill for excavating insects from tree bark and a distinctive drumming call. The Yellow-crowned Woodpecker is known for its territorial behavior and can often be seen tapping and drumming on trees. It plays a vital role in its ecosystem by controlling insect populations. Although not currently classified, its population is believed to be stable, and it faces no major threats at present.
