Yellow-eyed Junco

Junco phaeonotus

The Yellow-eyed Junco is a small sparrow found in the mountainous regions of Mexico and Central America. It is known for its distinctive yellow eyes and dark gray plumage. These birds are often found in pine and oak forests, where they forage for seeds, insects, and berries on the forest floor. They are known for their sweet, trilling song and can often be seen in small flocks. The Yellow-eyed Junco is not currently considered to be at risk, but deforestation and habitat loss are potential threats to their populations.
