Mino dumontii
The Yellow-faced Myna, scientifically known as Mino dumontii, is a striking bird native to the Solomon Islands. This medium-sized myna is known for its glossy black plumage and distinctive yellow facial markings, including a bright yellow patch around the eye and a yellow bill. It is a social bird often found in small flocks, and its melodious calls can be heard echoing through the forests. The Yellow-faced Myna is an omnivorous species, feeding on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. Its population is currently stable, but habitat loss and potential introduction of invasive species pose threats to its future survival.
