Yellow-headed Amazon

Amazona oratrix

The Yellow-headed Amazon, or Amazona oratrix, is a striking parrot species with a predominantly green plumage, a yellow head, and red patches on its wings. These intelligent and social birds are native to the forests of Mexico and northern Central America. They are known for their loud and raucous calls, and their ability to mimic human speech. Yellow-headed Amazons primarily feed on fruits, seeds, and nuts, and they often form large flocks in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade have led to a decline in their population, resulting in their classification as an endangered species.
