Yellow-headed Manakin

Chloropipo flavicapilla

The Yellow-headed Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its striking yellow head and black body. The males have a unique courtship behavior where they perform coordinated dances on display perches to attract females. These birds feed on fruits, insects, and small arthropods. They are typically found in the understory of lowland forests, often near streams or wet areas. The Yellow-headed Manakin is an important species for the health of the forest ecosystem due to its role in seed dispersal. However, like many tropical forest species, it faces threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
