Yellow-plumed Honeyeater

Ptilotula ornata (Gould, 1838)

Yellow-plumed Honeyeater, Ptilotula ornata, is a honeyeater of southern mainland Australia, with a breeding range patchily extending from south-west Western Australia through South Australia to central New South Wales. It is found in mallee, and in the western part of its range it also uses dry eucalypt woodland and open forest. The bird has a long, down-curved black bill and a distinctive yellow neck plume that is turned upwards. It is a noisy, conspicuous species that lives in sedentary colonial groups.
