Yellow-rumped Flycatcher

Ficedula zanthopygia (Hay, 1845)

Yellow-rumped Flycatcher, Ficedula zanthopygia, breeds in eastern Mongolia and south-eastern Russia through to eastern China, and moves to south-eastern Asia, including Java and Bali, outside the breeding season. It is a passerine in the Old World flycatcher family. The yellow rump is the key feature in every plumage. Males also show a white eyebrow and wing patch, with black upperparts and rich yellow below. Females are greyer or olive above, paler underneath, with a wing bar and yellow rump, and may show yellow on the throat.
