Yellow-rumped Honeyguide, Indicator xanthonotus, is a honeyguide of the Oriental Region breeding from nw India to n Myanmar. It lives in forested mountain country, especially coniferous and dry-deciduous woodland with rocks and cliffs, and has also been recorded in the Himalayan belt and nearby areas. It is a sparrow-sized bird with a stout, finch-like bill, strong zygodactyl feet and a long, pointed wing. The rump is deep orange to sulphur yellow, the face shows orange, and the underparts are pale grey with dark streaking. It feeds on wax at honeycombs and is a brood parasite.
