Yellow-shouldered Blackbird

Agelaius xanthomus

The Yellow-shouldered Blackbird is a medium-sized songbird found in the Caribbean. Males have glossy black plumage with bright yellow shoulders, while females are brown with streaked underparts. These birds are known for their melodious calls and are often found in marshes, mangroves, and coastal areas. They build cup-shaped nests from grasses and plant fibers, often in colonies. The Yellow-shouldered Blackbird is threatened by habitat loss and predation, and conservation efforts are underway to protect its remaining populations.
