Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Zanda funerea, breeds in eastern and south-eastern Australia and Tasmania. It is a cockatoo of temperate forest and wooded country, with a short crest, dark plumage, yellow cheek patches and a yellow band on the tail. The feathers of the body are edged in yellow, creating a scalloped look. Adult males have a black bill and pinkish-red eye-rings, while females have a pale bill and grey eye-rings. It was described by Shaw in 1794.
