Yellow-throated Euphonia, Euphonia hirundinacea, is a finch of Middle America, breeding from eastern Mexico through Central America to Panama. It is found in humid and dry areas alike, especially along forest edges, in open woodland and in shaded plantations. The bird has pointed wings, a short bill and a short tail. Males show dark glossy blue-black upperparts with a yellow forecrown and bright yellow underparts, while females are olive green above with whitish-grey underparts. It was described by Bonaparte in 1838 and belongs to the family Fringillidae.
