Yellow-throated Miner, Manorina flavigula, is a honeyeater found across most of Australia, excluding northern Cape York Peninsula, the far south-east and Tasmania. It is a colonial bird and lives in groups in open woodland and scrub. A white rump is its most obvious field mark and sets it apart from other miners. It is also called the white-rumped miner. The species is social and noisy, and it defends territory and resources from other birds. Its name was given because of its likeness to the common myna, though that bird is not closely related.
